The question to be answered is 'what are the minimum kinds of promises or acts on the part of the promisor that would satisfy a reasonable merchant in the position of the promisee that his expectation of receiving due performance will be fulfilled?' 2 HAWKLAND UNIFORM COMMERCIAL CODE SERIES § 2-609:03. Generally, when a promisor's assurance is something less than what was sought, courts find the assurance inadequate.  In evaluating the assurance, the court should keep in mind the reputation of the promisor, the grounds for insecurity, and the kinds of assurance available.
