Facts

Estes was a felon who was caught in possession of a firearm while in a traffic stop. The government filed a motion in limine to exclude evidence against Deputy Yeager, who stopped Estes, for conviction of a misdemeanor for impersonating a public official. The conviction was twelve years old. Estes argued that the evidence was admissible under 609(b). The court refused. Estes was convicted and appealed.
