State v. Woods

179 A. 1. (1935)

Facts

D drove to Reno with her three children and a married man. D was unmarried at the time. The man obtained in Reno what later turned out to be an invalid divorce and then married D. They returned to Vermont to live. D was convicted of the Blanket Act (see page 163 Bonnie). D appealed based on her honest belief of her subsequent marriage. D admitted all the facts were as stated at the trial but asked for relief based on an honest mistake of law.
