State v. Williams

49 S.E.2d 617 (N.C. 1948)

Facts

Hicks shot and wounded Hooker, and then fled from police officers in a car, accompanied by Williams (D). The car was driven by a companion of D. D helped Hicks leave the scene of the crime and lied to police in an attempt to cover up the crime. The victim died one day later from his gunshot wound after D, and the others helped Hicks to escape. D was found guilty of being an accessory after the fact to murder. D appealed: there was no murder at the that time D helped Hicks.
