Lee v. Paulsen

539 P.2d 1079 (1975)

Facts

P, a nontenured teacher, was notified his contract was not going to be renewed. P's attorney wrote the school district and demanded to know why. D responded with a letter stating the specific reasons. At a public hearing or meeting, P's attorney requested that the reasons, as contained in the letter sent to him, be stated by the board. The statements were made, and P then sued D for defamation. The trial court granted D's involuntary nonsuit. P appealed.
