Facts

Anderson's (D) father was injured in an auto accident and Lawrence (P), a physician, arrived at the scene and rendered assistance to D's father; D allegedly told P she would pay for the care. P treated the father. D's father died within days. P attempted to collect the bill for his work from the father's estate. P then sued D as a surety for the debt. D argued that her oral promise was not enforceable under the Statute of Frauds; the services were not legally beneficial to her. P claimed that D's direct promise to pay took the oral promise outside the statute. D was given a directed verdict. P appealed.
