Marvin (H) and Betsy (W) were married in 1970. They had two children. The parties permanently separated in 1981. During the final separation and entry of the first final court decree, W cared for the children, but W was with them almost half of the time. The trial court gave custody of the children to W. The evidence shows that between H and W there was considerable friction and neither trusted the other or enjoyed being in the others presence. H appealed because he contended joint custody should have been awarded or he should have gotten sole custody.
