A bag sent from Osteopathic Hospital (D) supposedly had personal effects of Gammon's (P) father, but rather had a bluish bloodied leg. P thought the hospital had cut his father's leg off. P began having nightmares, and his relationship with his wife and children deteriorated. P sought no medical or psychiatric attention. P claimed emotional distress and the trial court gave a directed verdict. P appealed.
