Exum v. General Electric Co

819 F.2d 1158 (D.C. Cir. 1987)

Facts

Exum (P) was working at a fast food restaurant when he was burned at the French-fry station. He caused an explosion in the station by dropping his inhaler inside the machine. P attempted to introduce evidence at trial regarding previous accidents involving this equipment to establish that it had a defective design. This evidence was not allowed in the trial court because the accidents wished to be introduced were not sufficiently similar to the present case. P appealed.
