Davis v. Commonwealth,

335 S.E.2d 375 (Va. 1985)

Facts

Davis (D) lived with her mother, Carter. Carter was an invalid who was unable to feed herself. Carter had authorized D to receive and use her food stamps and social security benefits. Carter died as a result of D's failure to properly feed and care for Carter. D was tried and convicted of voluntary manslaughter. D appealed: she owed no duty to Carter.
