Facts
Olshefski (D) had a trucking business. When D was out of town, one of D's employees purchased a load of coal in the truck. The truck was then weighed, and the driver got a slip indicating that the weight of the truck was 15,200 lbs. The maximum allowed weight was 15,750 lbs. The employee then left the truck with D, who drove it to town relying on the weight slip. D was stopped by police, and the truck was weighed at 16,015 lbs. D was charged with violating truck weight regulations. D was convicted. D appealed because the trial court refused his offer of good faith reliance upon the first weight slip.
