Ackermann v. United States

340 U.S. 193 (1950)

Facts

P filed a motion to set aside a judgment that canceled his certificate of naturalization. That motion was denied, the Court of Appeals affirmed and the Supreme Court granted certiorari. In 1942, complaints were filed against P to cancel his naturalization on grounds of fraud. After trial, one of the parties appealed, the Court of Appeals reversed, and the complaint against that party was ordered dismissed. P did not appeal because he had no money. P was eventually ordered to leave the country or be deported. The motion to vacate was denied. The Supreme Court granted certiorari.
