CODIS is an abbreviation for Combined DNA Index System.  CODIS is a national database containing DNA profiles of convicted felons. In order to amplify the DNA samples at these particular loci, the laboratory use two kits that contain the materials necessary to accomplish this result. These kits are known as the Profiler Plus and Cofiler DNA Typing Systems and are manufactured by Perkin Elmer Applied Biosystems.
