Realina (D) was involved in several verbal altercations with Hardisty because Hardisty believed that D was fooling around with his wife. Hardisty threatened D with bodily injury. D noticed Hardisty following him in his car and drove to a police station. Hardisty approached D's car, threatened to kill him, and grabbed him by the shirt. D grabbed a knife and chased Hardisty to the police station. Hardisty ran and told the police that D was going to kill him. D was ordered by a police officer to drop the knife, and he immediately complied. D was arrested and charged with terroristic threatening. At trial, he claimed that he was acting in self-defense. D was convicted and appealed.
