Wycoff died in 1928 and his will devised the farm to his son during the son’s natural life and after that to such person(s) as shall be his sole heir(s) in land in fee simple. The son died in 1997 and immediately a dispute erupted whether the language conveyed a fee simple (the Rule applies) or merely a life estate (the Rule does not apply).
