Nature Of The Case

This section contains the nature of the case and procedural background.

Facts

Bridgeport (P) is engaged in publishing, recording, and distributing music. P sued 770 music and entertainment companies. P asserts a number of claims against sampling of music in which P owns a copyright interest. The complaint includes 486 counts most of which contain multiple claims and is 901 pages long not including exhibits. Ds argue that Ps have violated Ruled 8 and 20. Ds contend that P’s complaint is not a short and plain statement of its claims. Ds also claim that they have not been properly joined under Rule 20.
