Siegel (D) plead guilty to the crime of issuing a check without sufficient funds. D was sentenced to one year in jail but was placed on probation for three years. The probation officer recommended that D's probation be revoked for desertion. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest in May of 1948. In 1963, D appeared before the court on a charge of issuing checks without sufficient funds. The court discovered that D had never answered the revocation of his probation. D was sentenced to jail to serve the balance of his term. D appealed; the court was without jurisdiction to try him after a lapse of 15 years.
