Facts

Gould (D) falsely promised to marry his girlfriend in order to have sexual intercourse with her. They did, and then D left town. D was charged with seduction and debauchery. During the trial, D and his girlfriend got married. The charges were dropped, and D caught the next train out of town. The charges were reinstated.
