Commonwealth v. Morrill & Anothe

62 Mass. 571 (1851)

Facts

Morrill (D) and Hodgdon told Lynch that they had a gold watch worth eighty dollars. Lynch traded two watches in return for the gold watch. Lynch misrepresented that the two watches were expensive, but they were not. At trial, there was a dispute about whether Lynch honestly believed the watches to be valuable. D was convicted and appealed.
